Acid Reflux: What Are the Signs?

by Frank Robson

The meal was delectable, to die for even, and you ate as much as you could. Clearly you just couldn’t bring yourself to say no to that tantalizing beef dish with its savory cream sauce.

That feeling of well being also led you to getting comfortable on the sofa, just in time for your favorite program on TV. Feet up, a roaring fireplace and a chocolate followed by a great wine is what you love. A bowl of peanuts to add some crunch.

Welcome to the signs of Acid Reflux.

Even a situation as seemingly perfect as the one described above can be ruined by chest discomfort. A sour tasting fluid filled with the flavors of all the foods that you’ve been digesting can surge up past your breastbone and fill up your throat. Despite your desire to vomit out such a terrible mixture, it decides to stay right there causing extreme discomfort.

Some people also experience further unpleasant sensations when dizziness sets in as a result of a reaction by the Vagus nerve to stomach problems. All these symptoms are part of the body’s typical reaction to acid reflux.

Ignoring the symptoms mentioned can further lead to feeling like there is food stuck inside your throat. Another feeling sometimes described by people is that of food not traveling comfortably down the food pipe.

Such an experience is commonly associated with Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) or acid reflux.

Completely unrelated to age, race, nationality, or genetic disposition, acid reflux is experienced as a result of habits that involve nutrition, eating, and health. People of any age, such as senior citizens, teenagers, and even very young children can suffer from acid reflux. Children tend to develop this problem because of issues with their physiological development. For other individuals, however, their own overuse and abuse of the body’s digestive system is what causes them to suffer from acid reflux.

The DANGERS that Lurk in Severe Acid Reflux

by Jeff Martin

One of the most distressing aspects of GERD as it is known (gastroesophageal reflux disease) is that it is chronic and will return to plague many people who have already suffered from it once. A severe acid reflex condition can in turn cause worse medical complications.

So what really is acid reflux disease and how does serious acid reflux disease come about? What are the different serious acid reflux complications that then contribute to worsening the situation?

When stomach contents gets refluxed or thrown back up into the esophagus, this is known as gastroesophageal reflux disease. This stomach content that contains bile and pepsin amongst other substances then inflames and corrodes the esophageal lining. This is the root cause of heartburn, a frequent symptom of severe acid reflux disease. This can lead to serious acid reflux problems. To complicate matters, this information is not immediately obvious to a patient and it requires further investigation to know if someone is suffering from serious acid reflux problems.

Overall, serious acid reflux happens a lot. Data points to older people being more likely to suffer the affliction of serious acid reflux. Much of the population is already a victim of severe acid reflux difficulties with related unpleasantness such as heartburn. Although for many the symptoms could be worse, for others they can quickly degenerate and become ramifications of severe acid reflux.

It is crucial that a sufferer with serious acid reflux reacts quickly and correctly. The logic for this is that serious acid reflux can become a sequence of problems impacting in turn other areas of health, and so the speedy resolution of serious acid reflux with workable remedies is increasingly important.

Here are some examples of serious complications due to acid reflux that can come about if someone neglects the correction of a serious acid reflux condition.

Severe esophageal inflammation: known as Erosive Esophagitis

Narrowing of the esophagus. Severe acid reflux reduces the esophageal tract space to the extent that both eating and drinking can become difficult.

Severe acid reflux can result in Barrett’s esophagus.

Throat, pulmonary and dental medical problems can all be caused or exacerbated by serious acid reflux.

Because conventional medicine which is based on over the counter medicaments only treats the external symptoms of severe acid reflux and not the causes, it will not help with severe acid reflux because it does not target or address the underlying factors. Solutions for someone to handle severe acid reflux basically divide into two categories. The first is conventional medicine and the second is alternative medicine. However natural remedies for holistic cures are alone in their capability to resolve the real causes and they are therefore more effective.

by Jeff Martin

A severe acid reflux condition can in turn lead to worse medical complications. One of the most concerning aspects of GERD as it is known (gastroesophageal reflux disease) is that it is chronic and will come back to haunt many people after the first time that they suffer from it.

So what in truth is acid reflux disease and where does it come from? What are the various ramifications of serious acid reflex that then degrade the matter even further?

To make matters even more complicated, it is not always obvious and requires further investigation to know if a patient is suffering from serious acid reflex difficulties. When stomach contents get pushed back into the esophagus, the medical name for this is gastroesophageal reflux disease. This stomach content contains bile and pepsin amongst other things. It attacks the cells lining the esophagus and corrodes the lining. This is the main cause of heartburn severe acid reflux problems.

Although for many the symptoms are not that serious, for others this can degenerate into severe acid reflux complications. Research indicates that older people are also more in danger of suffering from serious acid reflux.

The critical thing to do for a victim of serious acid reflux is to take the correct action quickly. The reason for this is that serious acid reflux can in turn cause other health problems and therefore the quick and effective management of serious acid reflux is doubly important.
